NewDay Africa founders Christine, Edward, and Ellen

 

Board
Christine Tapert (President) holds a degree in K-8 education from Seattle Pacific University. As the mother of two young daughters, Christine is happy to have found a way to make a difference in the lives of children who have lost their parents to the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Edward Ngahyoma (Vice-President) was born and raised in Tanzania. Edward is a certified nursing assistant in the State of Washington. His goal is to use his experience as a caregiver to improve the lives of the orphaned and the ill in the country of his birth. To contact Edward (English/Swahili): edward@newdayafrica.org.

Ellen Gaddy (Secretary/Treasurer) is a graduate student in Psychology and Social Transformation at Saybrook Graduate School and Research Center. Her studies are focused on the psychology of sustainability and sustainable monetary systems. Ellen has several years of experience working with HIV/AIDS organizations in Kenya and Tanzania. She hopes to use her knowledge to design and implement ecologically sustainable projects in Africa. To contact Ellen: ellen@newdayafrica.org.


Katie Stuart was the Community Mobilizer & Policy Assistant for the National AIDS Housing Coalition in Washington, DC. Prior to this position, she served as Associate Director of Development & Public Affairs for the Alliance of AIDS Services-Carolina, a position focused on corporate fundraising, event planning, and advocacy. In addition to her domestic HIV/AIDS advocacy, Katie has several years of international experience, having worked with Sympathy International in Ghana and Nyumbani Orphanage in Kenya.
